My Post-Pandemic Travel Bucket List

Alright, it’s safe to say I am officially over this pandemic! In the words of “Schitt’s Creek’s” Alexis Rose, “I miss my life! And I miss doing things.”

I recently started following a ton of travel accounts on Instagram. it wasn’t anything that I planned, it’s just that I kept searching for small towns and villages and seaside resorts and mountain views and it made me realize that I miss travelling A LOT! Because of the pandemic, the hubs and I have had to put off two vacations this year: in May we were planning on a weekend in Nashville and at the end of July I thought I’d be drinking wine from the rooftop patio of our hotel in Lisbon, Portugal (and while I’m so glad that we have our health and we both remained employed during the lockdown, it’s still hard to believe that life changed so quickly and drastically).

Scrolling through storybook villages and faraway lands on Instagram has got me thinking about my travel bucket list. I used to always say I’d go anywhere I hadn’t been yet (and that’s still true) but the travel industry has changed, and who knows for how long. I’m not sure, or even fully confident, that travelling will be as easy as it’s been in the past, so if I could only get to a handful of places, here’s where I’d start:

My Post-Pandemic Travel Bucket List

Strasbourg, France: but specifically at Christmas. Strasbourg is said to be the capital of Christmas and has the oldest Christmas market in Europe. I absolutely LOVE Christmas; it’s my favourite holiday. So going to the capital of Christmas during Christmastime would be an absolute dream. The entire town decorates and you definitely get those “Beauty and the Beast” vibes. Not that I need any excuse to go to France (I’m always wondering #amifrenchyet ?) but Strasbourg at Christmas is definitely on my list.

Tel-Aviv, Israel: I’m not even sure where to begin… the food, the beaches, the nightlife, the history, it’s all fantastic. Tel-Aviv is a recent addition to my list, but after reading Tel-Aviv City Guides from fellow bloggers, it’s a place I can’t wait to get to. The food alone makes it a must-see place for me and the nightlife scene is said to be one of the best in the world. Plus, I’d never say no to swimming in the Mediterranean Sea.

Marrakesh, Casablanca and Fes, Morocco: I’ve been in love with Morocco since I was in grade 9 – it was the firs time I saw the movie “Casablanca.” (And yes, I know the movie is not an accurate representation of the city or the country). Watching the movie at 14 years old was enough to spark my interest, which led me to the library for travel and history books of the country (this was before the internet was just a thing we all lived with… am I showing my age yet?) Morocco has been on my travel bucket list for a while now. The food, the people, the culture, the architecture! From the outdoor markets to the traditional riad’s, Morocco is a place I can’t wait to get to.
