It’s hard to believe we are at the end of August already. I mean, sometimes it still feels like we’re in March and the pandemic isn’t a real thing…. but here we are.
My August Petit Vour box has finally arrived! Since the pandemic, the mail has been moving a bit slower so this post is a bit later than I would have wanted. As I always have, I tried to stalk IG for what the August box would contain and I’ve come to realize that Petit Vour must run out of products as each tagged box has about three of the same products and two different ones, but I digress.
I have to say I haven’t had the same reaction to a box like my January Box (2020) review. I was so excited for that box but so far the boxes that followed haven’t lived up to the January box. The August box is still a great box and the products will get used. I’m not sure it was worth the $50 USD value stated but it’s definitely worth the price that I paid (which was about $35 CAD after the exchange rate).
If you’re curious about Petit Vour, you can check out my first post here.
As always, I was charged at the first of the month and the box shipped around around the 15th. My box arrived a couple days later than normal but that’s understandable.
Here’s everything that came in the August 2020 box:

As with all Petit Vour boxes, they come with a card describing each product and the retail price. Each box is said to have a retail value of over $50 USD. The August box contained five products, with three of them being full-sized. For approx. $35 CAD ($23 USD). As I said above, I don’t think this box was worth the stated value, but I do think it’s worth the price I was charged.
Han Skincare Cosmetics Concealer

This was a product that previously came in my December 2019 box but I’m glad to be getting a second one. This is a great concealer with full coverage. It goes on smooth and lasts pretty much all day. I really like HAN Skincare because they use things like fruits and vegetables as pigment. They also offer a wide variety of make-up products . Because I completed my Beauty Profile on the Petit Vour site, they were able to send me my correct shade. The price checks out at $18 USD a bottle.
Evio Cleansing Wipes

So right off the bat, cleansing wipes are not my favourite thing. They tend to pull the skin, especially around eye area. Typically I save cleansing wipes for travelling because they are much more convenient, but unfortunately we won’t be travelling anytime soon. I love this brand because it’s Canadian! These wipes are made with hemp fibres and are biodegradable. This is another full size product. It can be found on the brand’s website for $13 CAD, though the Petit Vour card has it listed at $14 USD.
EiR NYC Tough Love Cuticle Balm

This is the third full sized product of this box. This cuticle balm smells amazing and can be used on any areas of dry skin, which I am currently suffering from since I’ve been washing my hands and using hand sanitizer more often. The base of this balm is shea butter, which is super hydrating. It smells amazing and doesn’t leave too much of a greasy residue. The price checks out at $12 USD.
Kahina Giving Beauty Oil Cleanser

So, there’s a couple things with this product that doesn’t impress me. First, it says right on the bottle “sample not for sale” so already this tells me this shouldn’t be worth anything. Second, it’s listed for $10 USD on the Petit Vour card, which is beyond ridiculous for the size. This box did come with five products, and normally the boxes come with four, so I’m thinking this was added in to “boost” the value of the box. I’m a huge fan of the double cleanse at night to remove my makeup, so this will definitely be put to use… but I would not pay $10 USD for such a small product. According to the brand’s website, there’s a lot of great ingredients in this oil cleanser, so I’m sure it’s a lovely product… just maybe not worth what is stated.
Andalou Naturals – Kukui Cocoa Nourishing Body Butter

I’m very familiar with Andalou Naturals and their products. This brand has been featured in past boxes. Their products work well and are affordable (when it comes to green beauty). This body butter has a lovely scent that’s not too overpowering. These travel sized products are always great to have on hand for weekends away (I used to save them for vacations abroad, but those don’t seem to be happening anytime soon). The Petit Vour card has it listed as $3 USD though I do know I can pick this up at my local health food store for $2 CAD.
Final Thoughts:
My favourite product: It’s a toss-up between the HAN Skincare concealer or the EiR NYC cuticle balm. Both products are full-sized, which is great and both products will for sure be used! I’ve received the concealer before in a previous box, and while it’s always fun to get new products to try, it’s just as fun getting a product that you already know and love. The cuticle balm smells so nice and my hands have been soo dry since March, so this product will be put to good use.
Product I’m least likely to use: I’m going to put the Evio face wipes in this category just because I’m not a huge fan of cleansing wipes in general. They do tend to pull at your skin, and the areas around your eyes are so sensitive. These are great to have on hand for cottage weekends, etc. (and I’ll be brining mine to a family Labour Day party). I do like that they are biodegradable, so that means less of a toll on the environment. I’ll still end up using these, but they are not my favourite.
On the August 2020 box overall: Overall I’m pretty pleased with this box. I do not think it’s worth $50 USD, but I paid just over $35 CAD for this box (with the exchange rate) and this is probably what I’d spend at the store if I picked these up. I do love having another concealer and the body butter will be put to good use. The August 2020 box isn’t high up on my “top box” list, but it’s definitely not the worst box I’ve received.
